If the grounds after having been put in order were neglected for a year or so they would be almost as bad as they are at present.

It therefore seems that it would be a good policy for Government to appoint at least one gardener to look after the place if there are no other means by which the up- -keep can be assured.

The cost of a gardener would not be more than

144 per annun.

I have not allowed anything for repairing the walk leading up from the causeway to the house as that seems matter for the Public Works Department.
